General Introduction of technology in Machine Vision Inspection Industry

It’s a general opinion that Machine Vision System takes the concept of human naked eyes applications for production quality inspection. That’s understandable. Nowadays, the manufacturing industry is continuously growing, extending to a large number of industry such as precision hardware, electronics, magnetic products, plastic and rubber parts, screws and nuts, 3C products, etc. The huge amount of production is required a huge amount of machine vision inspections systems. Which helps the manufacturers increase the yield of production with less time consumption, meanwhile decreases the percentage of negative products produced.

Well understanding the technology of machine vision, automatic vision inspection system, the industrial cameras, the image capture system and image processing system, will certainly give you a good support if you want to revise the current manufacturing quality inspection procedure, and will certainly help you generate a general concept of what are they.

The embedded vision technology

The embedded visual technology with AI visual processing are expected to use widely. “The processing ability is greatly improved, and the memory becomes very cheap,” said John Merva, vice president of Gardasoft llc in North America. Users can choose a very small camera and take advantage of cloud data from many different sources. When you combine these factors with machine learning into a single package, you have embedded vision.

The deep learning technique

This is likely to be a year that machine vision deep learning becomes a truly disruptive skill and will play an important role in dealing with applications that traditional machine vision cannot handle. ATS Automation’s Steve wardell uses vaccine testing as an example. Wardell said: “We check the vaccine in freeze-dried vials, and the results vary greatly each check, depending on how  dry they are.” Making a classic test process becomes very challenging because in one actual example, something particle might look very similar to a crack.

The Hyperspectral imaging

With the advancement of short-wave infrared (SWIR) skills, it is now possible to “do some work, for example, through the wings of a composite airline to discover internal shortcomings”, which is suitable for high-speed machine vision applications.

The Smart camera

Compared to traditional inspection systems that separated traditional algorithm and hardware structure, customers are more inclined to use integrated smart cameras. The main reason is that smart cameras are simple to use, easy to install, easy to debug, and it is not exclusive by profession personnel.

The popular of 3D camera

Traditional visual industry uses mainly 2D cameras. But compared to application and inspection that needs deep information, 3D cameras has been widely applied. Although the present 3D camera are still at slow speed. They are much more convenient to extra plane depth information from 2D cameras. However, since the cost of 3D camera is expensive, 2D camera with laser will be frequently adopted.
